Nestled in an alpine pasture at the foot of the Sache Summit, the hut and its keepers will welcome you warmly. The area is really quiet and wan be discovered by hiking a loop and enjoying the views and the preserved nature (see “Access”).
Across the mountain pasture, you will see young cow, goats, sheep and their shepherds. The mountain hut is actually a former alp chalet! However, the world of the high mountains is not far away: from the terrace, you will enjoy the splendid view on the glaciers and their seracs. Pure and wild, it will offer you quiet area to admire the biodiversity and the beauty of the mountains. Twenty minutes’ walk away, you will reach a wonderful panorama on the glaciers of La Martin, La Gurraz and La Savinaz.

The hut is rustic: there is a WC but no shower! We produce the electricity with solar panels: it is precious and depends on the weather. As a result, we save the energy and will not be able to recharge you mobiles. Do not forget to turn on the airplane mode!
You can fill up your freely your flasks as we have drinkable water in the hut. There is a gas cooker and some crockery if you want to make your own dinner.
The hut is in fact a unique room, with the dining tables on one side and the beds on the other. It is equipped with 21 beds with pillows and quilts. However, DO NOT FORGET YOUR SLEEPING BAG LINER for hygienic reasons.
Bivouac is allowed when the hut is guarded under some conditions:
- 10 persons max: we advise you to call us before to make sure there is some room left
- Tents can be pitched between 7pm and 8am
- Price: 5 € per person (access to the kitchen included)
(Watch out! There is no running water during winter!)

A hut steeped in history…

Before 1930, there was a small alp chalet and a herd of heifers. Then, the municipality of Villaroger bought the alpine pasture and both currents buildings were built:

- the current mountain hut: home of the shepherds and used to make the cheese
- the stable hosting up to 70 cows
La Martin alpine pasture was cooperative. All the livestock of the villages of La Gurraz and La Savinaz were put together and kept by a team of shepherds. In 1948, 124 pieces of Beaufort, 246kg of Serac and 160kg of butter were produced!
In 1962, the alpine pasture is no longer used. In 1972, the Vanoise National Park buy the building and turn it into a mountain hut.
